Defensive Systems

All through old space and the Verge humanity as always tried to develop greater war machines, greater armies and greater military technology. Born from the need of protection were soldiers lacked, or were a normal human would be at a disadvantage. Defense systems sprung up around planets, space stations, ships, on desolate planets, ect. More so in the Verge where the need for protection is great and the nations of old space are far away.

Borealin Satellite defenses

Used extensively by the Borealins ( who would rather prefer to continue their studies rather than to fight in battle ) in such places such as the Hammer Star system and Borealis home worlds of Old space, these planetary defense satellites have proven their inefficiency quite a few times in history. Tough the satellites are moderately powerful, they always met greater opposition then they were designed for, such is the case of the Hammer Star system. More recent models have been created tough and have been installed in the Hammer Star system.

All these models come with radio transceivers, radio uplinks and communications devices for emergency backup calls, and a diplomatic peace message transmitted to incoming ships.

III models

These very old models are rarely seen anymore, they are not capable of damaging today's ships. They can still be found sometimes as anti-personnel weapons used to defend installations or ships against boarding crews or space born assailant. These sats uses vehicular weaponry and are very small. They could still damage small ships with poor armor tough.

Target systems: +2 step
Weapons: 4 x 120 mm rail canons mounted on turrets
                2 x stationary laser canons
Armor:    Moderate Polymeric armor ( vehicular )

Durability: 3

III.A models

These upgraded version of the III models were built as a cheap defense against escape pods, small launch vessels and man operated space armors. The rail canons were replaced with vehicular pl7 technology and the laser canons were replaced with equipment.

Target systems: +1 steps
Weapons: 4 x plasma canons mounted on turrets
Armor:     Heavy Alloy armor (vehicular )
Equipment: IR detector, multiband radar, spetrum analyzer

Durability: 4

V, VI and VII models

These models were created as an efficient space sat defense capable of damaging space ships. These are often mass deployed in a large network who work in unison to target vessels. The combined power of hundreds of these can severely damage any ship.
All equipment, weapon and armor his ship equipment.

Target systems: 0 steps
Armor: light cerametal armor

V
Weapons: 4 stationary rail canons
VI
Weapons: 2 turret mounted X-ray laser
VII
Weapons: 1 matter torpedo launch accelerator, 4 matter torpedoes

Durability: 8

X models

These brand new sat defenses were commissioned and built for the Hammer Star system, they were made to handle Kilck scout ships. Because of their extremely high cost they are few in numbers. These are the largest of all models.

Target systems: -1 steps
Weapons: 8 turret mounted X-ray laser, 2 stationary rail canons, 2 MRB launch rack. 6 MRB missiles
Armor: heavy cerametal armor

Durability: 20

StarMech planetary scouting defenses

It is a well known fact that StarMech uses probes and robots extensively for reckon and scouting operations. These fairly recent additions to the StarMech fleet were projects in developments during GW2, which never appeared in time for the war, they were meant to be shipped by Stardrive relay stations to far-flung world to escort probes and reckons bots and establish preliminary defenses on planets.

Probe relay station

These installations are comparable to drive relay stations, except for the fact that they are bigger. They house, probes, small ships, ect. These are then attached to a drive platform ( each relay has to of them ) which is a large cube with places to attach to ship. They are composed of the finest StarMech Stardrive engines and power sources, with no interior space left for passengers or cargo. These relay platforms can make a 20 year Starfall after which they dump their "cargo", recharge and head back to the last stations. Each stations also has automated space robots who can haul probes and such. So when a drive platform makes a fall near another one robots come carry the "cargo" to the next drive relay on the platforms. Such cargo can travel to at least 3 Probe relay station until they have reached a frontier relay station, one which sits at the frontier of StarMech space, there they are launched one final time into the unknown.

Target systems: 0 steps
Weapons: 6 turret mounted plasma canons, 2 tractor beams, 1 launch rack equipped with CHE missiles
Armor: Heavy alloy armor
Equipment: Multiband radar, Fusion torch, Photon sail, Life support unit, Computer core, Laser transceiver
Durability: 20

Space service robots

These are the hauling robots.

Target systems: +2 steps
Weapons: 1 laser canon ( ship )
                4 x 15mm charge gun*** ( vehicular )      ***= these 15mm charge gun are equal as the 25mm chainguns
Armor: light alloy armor ( vehicular )
Durability: 3

Drive relay platforms

Target systems: +3 steps
Weapons: 6 stationary laser canons ( ship )
Armor: Moderate polymeric ( ship )
Durability: 15

Porcupine Pillbox

Launched with probes and scout bots these land on planets where probes and reckon bots will work and where StarMech personnel will arrive. These large octagonal weapon platforms are automated pillbox which have a friend or foe recognition system. They can be programmed to fire at will or only fire after someone has fired at them first. They recognize all StarMech personnel and citizens and do not attack them. They protect future military or scientific encampments.

Target Systems: -2 steps
Weapons: 35 x stationary 25mm charge guns
Armor: light cerametal armor ( ship )
Equipment: multiband radar, Computer core, Battle, Radio transceiver, Radio uplink, sat contact unit, FOF recognition engine
Durability: 25

Concord Automated Anti-Air Defense System, CAAADS

Pronounced CADS. These automated weapon platforms are now being installed in a lot of concord installation on planets, or on vessels who have to make frequent runs on planet. They come in two models and are all equipped with a computer core that can use smart enemy recognition to identify target of opportunity and lock on the more dangerous threats and ignore the one they can't hope to destroy. They are all also equipped with a small communication device that ignore targets who send appropriate Concord friend or foe frequencies. The Concord often install these platforms in key areas and give transponders FOF frequencies to one side of a conflict in which the Concord intervenes.

CAAADS-1

This large low weapons platform can be ordered to deploy or hide its missile racks It has two missile rack facing opposite direction, tough the platform cannot fire two missile at the same times, the two racks provide a wider arc of fire and a more rapid delivery of warheads.

Target systems: -1 steps
Weapons: 2 missile racks
each with 4 installed CHE missiles, an additional 8 missiles are contained in the platform, when it retract it is automatically recharged
Armor: light polymeric armor ( vehicle )
Equipment: Computer core, Battle, Radio transceiver, Radio uplink, sat contact unit, FOF recognition engine
Durability: 25

CAAADS-2

This cube shaped armor platforms contains an extra long lasting energy battery with a recharger anbd auxiliary power. On top of it is a rotary turret on which is installed two Laser Canons. The canons are close to one another and always fire simultaneously. These were designed as short range support against sky tanks, jet fighters and air born space ships. Although weak in power these are often found protecting a pair of CAADS-1. The combination makes a deadly trio.

Target systems: -2 steps
Weapons: 2 turret mounted Laser canons
Armor: light polymeric armor ( vehicle )
Equipment: Computer core, Battle, Radio transceiver, Radio uplink, sat contact unit, FOF recognition engine
Durability: 30
